Invitation

The 6th International L&AB Symposium is organized to contribute to the advancement of the ecological sciences through integrating aquatic bird communities as part of the functional network of biophysical and biogeochemical processes taking place in ecosystems. Birds are an essential  part of aquatic ecosystems. They are indicators of environmental quality, a key compartment of the trophic web, and a major way of biogeochemical processes. Monitoring, modelling and management are basic tools to study ecosystems, including aquatic birds.

The 6th International Symposium on Limnology and Aquatic Birds is organized as a meeting place for managers, researchers and stake holders to exchange experiences, present innovative management tools and promote strategies for the conservation of aquatic birds and their ecosystems in an integrative way.

Venue

The 6th International Symposium on Limnology and Aquatic Birds will be celebrated in the historic city of Huesca (founded in the XI century) under the auspices of Diputación de Huesca (The Government Entity for the province of Huesca). The Congress will take place at Palacio de Congresos and you can see more information in these Web page

Huesca is the northern province of Aragon (Spanish Autonomous community in NE Spain). Huesca is a 50,000 inhabitants city located at a middle point between the Pyrenees Mountains (70 km) and the Ebro river Valley (70 km). Huesca occupies a central depression surrounded by spectacular sandstone sierras. It is located  in the flyway for migratory birds and at close distance from inland and coastal freshwater and saline lakes and salt marshes, most of them incorporated as part of Natura 2000 European sites and UNESCO Biosphere Reserves.
